DI-FlexPDK
Automated Development of Open-Source Libraries for Process Design Kits for Chip Manufacturing
DI-FlexPDK automates the development of open-source libraries for Process Design Kits (PDKs) required for chip manufacturing. Open PDKs are a central foundation for an accessible and transparent chip design ecosystem.
Objectives and Approach
The main goal is significant advancement of automated, technology-independent generation of standard cells, I/O cells, and macros for open-source PDKs. The team develops an open procedure translating technological specifications into a defined rule format, then automatically generates component libraries with integrated compliance verification.
Innovations and Perspectives
The project combines open standards with automated tools, creating immediately usable components while reducing development costs. It offers researchers and companies accelerated chip development pathways and strengthens European technological independence across the semiconductor sector.
